The New Plymouth Independent Seat

The New Plymouth Independent Seat will bring a new level of politics and democracy to New Plymouth, driven from the community up. That will include and inform more people and enhance debate and decision making.

New Plymouth Independent Seat Online Service.

Will include New Plymouth related political news and opinion, it will add more commentators, and will be used to debate issues important to the New Plymouth electorate.
It will link in to other online information sources such as national blogs, Facebook, Twitter, as well as traditional media like newspapers, radio and TV.

New Plymouth Independent Seat meetings

The New Plymouth Independent Seat holder will have regular public meetings to keep people informed and allow anyone to speak. There will also be special meetings for introducing and publicly debating important issues.

New Plymouth Independent Seat Council

A non-party aligned council will be set up that will include community, business, health and social services representatives. This will act as an advisory and lobby group to work with the New Plymouth Independent Seat holder.

Electorate Feed Back

Electorate opinion as determined online, at public meetings, via the council, and on big issues by local referendum to better represent the local prospective. Results of which well be put forward to parliament by the New Plymouth Independent Seat holder for consideration.

Grass Roots Driven

The New Plymouth Independent Seat will be run democratically by the New Plymouth community. The community make the decissions and are the main part of that process. All New Plymouth community stakeholders and business will be encouraged to take part.

The New Plymouth Independent Seat has the potential to revolutionise how we do democracy in New Plymouth and New Zealand, driven from the grass roots up rather than from Wellington down.
